Join Our Team at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Position Available: Research Fellow

Join the laboratory of Yi Li at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to a project focused on fundamental algorithms in data science.

The main duty of this position is to pursue cutting-edge research in algorithms for massive datasets, such as dimension reduction techniques, streaming algorithms, and online algorithms. You are also expected to write or contribute to publications, and attend conferences and workshops, for disseminating research findings. Travel support is possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing state-of-art algorithms for massive datasets
  • Writing or contributing to publications, and attending conferences and workshops, for disseminating research findings

Job Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in theoretical computer science, mathematics, or a relevant area. This includes applicants who have not yet obtained their degree but are certain to finish before the position's start date.
  • A good background of probability in theoretical computer science is expected.
  • Research experience, as evidenced by a history of relevant publications, is expected. Publications in top venues are highly desired.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
