직무 설명

Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.

We are seeking a Research Assistant or Research Engineer I to support our research and testing initiatives in power electronics for medium-voltage grid-connected applications. These research efforts align closely with the university’s strategic goals toward building more sustainable societies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and tune digital control algorithms for power converters tailored for smart grid applications.
  • Model and simulate control systems including stability analysis and optimization of control parameters for grid compliance and dynamic performance (e.g., under transient and fault conditions).
  • Develop and implement firmware for embedded controllers to execute hard real-time control strategies for various power converters and grid interfaces.
  • Develop test plans and conduct lab testing and real-time simulations (e.g., HIL) to verify control algorithms and validate system performance under various operating and fault conditions.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to integrate control systems into high-power high-voltage converter systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design/test reports, control models, test results, and source code.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, finance, and safety to support project delivery and compliance.
  • Contribute to research proposals, research disseminations, and project deliverables.
  • Support laboratory activities, including equipment maintenance, procurement, and administrative tasks.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Electronics and its applications to renewable energy and power systems.
  • Extensive experience in embedded C/C++ programming for hard real-time systems, including implementation of control algorithms on DSPs and FPGAs.
  • 3–4 years of hands-on experience in VHDL/Verilog programming for FPGA-based control and signal processing applications.
  • Strong understanding of digital control theory, loop tuning methods, and stability analysis for dynamic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with HIL platforms such as OPAL-RT, RT Box, or Typhoon HIL for validating control systems under realistic operating conditions.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in adynamic, cross-functional teams, and fast-paced research environment.

We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
