Technical Lead – AS400

The AS400 Technical Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, and support of AS400-based banking applications. 
The role ensures system stability, performance and compliance with banking and regulatory standards while delivering reliable technical solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of AS400 applications using RPG, RPGL and COBOL400.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and code reviews to team members.
• Design, manage, and optimize DB2 databases on the AS400 platform.
• Collaborate with business and banking stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure application performance, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Support application enhancements, upgrades, and technical documentation.

Job Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6-9 years of experience in software development using RPG and Control Language (CL) on AS400.
• Experience working on Silverlake/AS400 loan systems in a banking or financial services environment.
• Proficient with DB2 and understanding of data structures and file handling on AS400.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues.
• Experience with SDLC methodologies and change management processes.
• Knowledge in SQL.
• Knowledge of Aldon / Arcad for software deployment automation on AS400.
• Familiarity with SFTP for secure file transfer.
• Experience with MQ for inter-system communications.
• Exposure to Direct Connect and external integrations.
• Understanding of release management and version control.
• Background in quality assurance and test support activities.
• Knowledge in Control-M.
