職位描述

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science (CoS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore invites outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in plant sciences. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, molecular and cell biology, plant development, biotic- and abiotic signaling, systems biology, synthetic biology, and biomechanics. We consider plants broadly and encourage applications of candidates working on marine systems or microalgae.

SBS is searching for individuals with a well-defined research vision and an outstanding track record of publications in top journals. The successful candidate will establish and maintain an independent extramurally funded research program. The successful candidate is expected to show a strong commitment to departmental undergraduate and graduate mentoring and teaching.

SBS covers diverse areas of research encompassing genetic, structural, biochemical, and cellular investigator-led projects. SBS fosters strong interdisciplinary collaborations not only within the school but also with other departments in the university. SBS/NTU offers cutting edge infrastructures, such as state-of-the-art structural biology and biophysical facilities (Titan Krios Cryo-EM, Rigaku FRX X-ray generator, BLI, ITC), advanced microscopes that range from the scale of single molecules to entire seedling, a complete set of proteomics facilities and the Singapore phenome centre. SBS has multiple plant growth chambers and walk-in chambers, designed to cultivate plants under specific, adjustable conditions. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to access other state of the art facilities on campus and to establish fruitful collaborations with other Schools and Research Institutes on campus.

SBS and CoS seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of merit, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family responsibilities, or disability.

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must hold a relevant PhD, e.g. in biochemistry or biology with postdoctoral or other professional experience in related research fields.

Requirements:

  • We are searching for a candidate, who is ready to establish their independent research group focusing on topics related to molecular plant sciences. We strongly encourage applications from candidates working in innovative or underexplored areas, such as non-model plants, marine plant systems or microalgae. We value interdisciplinary approaches and are especially interested in researchers exploring non-canonical secondary metabolic pathways and how the plant metabolic pathways intersect with environmental factors and other biological systems.

  • We are particularly excited about applicants who can place their vision in the context of our department and NTU and envisage relevant interdisciplinary projects to drive the next wave of groundbreaking discoveries in biology and chemistry.

  • The candidate should have a strong research track record in plant biology, including areas such as plant metabolism or chemical biology, and a well-developed research plan.

  • The candidate is also expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biochemistry and chemical biology.

Application package should include:

  • Cover Letter (what you have to offer and why you chose NTU)

  • Full Curriculum Vitae (CV) including
Detailed Publication List with Google Scholar / Scopus link (eg. information on scholarly output, impact factor and H-index and FWCI)
Any additional Information will also be helpful (eg. number of graduate students supervised, information on grants, patents, research/teaching awards)

  • Research Statement (around 1-2 pages)

  • Teaching Statement (around 1-2 pages)

  • Service/Future Aspirations Statement, if any (around 1-2 pages)

  • Detailed proposal of your research project/proposal (around 5 pages)

  • Encouraged to provide at least 3 external referee reports, which may support to the evaluation process. All referees should hold an academic position that is at least one rank higher than the appointment.

Applicants with outstanding academic achievements and high-impact potential with national or international recognition and sustained global contributions may be considered or nominated for professorship titles - Nanyang Assistant Professor (NAP), Provost's Chair Associate Professor and President's Chair Full Professor
