Description

You will be part of the team to provide counselling services for seniors and/or caregivers/families, affected by grief and loss, transitions relating to older age and caregiver challenges. Through our services, we aim for seniors and their families to achieve healthy functioning, stability and self-reliance.


ROLES & RESPONSIBLITIES

Casework and Counselling

  • Manage Information and Referrals for casework and counselling service
  • Conduct assessment, planning and counselling intervention for seniors/caregivers who are experiencing stress due to grief and loss and old-age issues
  • Conduct case conferences and consultations with caseworkers and partners as required
  • Refer clients for appropriate care and assistance within the healthcare and social service systems
  • Review and evaluate case outcomes
  • Maintain up-to-date case records and reports
  • Ensure timely submission of service reports to Management and funders
  • Lead in planning and conducting training workshops, caregiver support group and public education presentations on mental health.

Supervisory and Appraisal

  • Provide practice/clinical and administrative supervision to Senior/Counsellors in case assessment, case planning and group-based intervention
  • Review and develop developmental plans of practitioners to ensure continuous growth in their competencies
  • Conduct quarterly performance appraisal of the Senior/Counsellors
  • Conduct internal training for team/service point, where appropriate.

Research/Practice

  • Review research evidence to implement, facilitate and evaluate counselling strategies, groupwork and programme
  • Lead in implementation of standard of care, organisational policies, procedures.

Network and Advocacy

  • Advocate for seniors and caregivers needs, with the aim to have access to equal opportunities through collaborative practice with community partners/stakeholders and funders
  • Lead and conduct networking and advocacy sessions with community partners/stakeholders in the development and provision of gerontological counselling service.

Governance and Operational

  • Support the Service Head in implementation of Centre’s operational and practice protocols, processes and policies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master of Counselling
  • At least 7 years of relevant casework/counselling experience with diverse client background including seniors, adult, families/couples and in conducting training and workshops
  • Accredited member of SASW and/or clinical member of SAC, preferably Registered Clinical Supervisor of SAC
  • Has shown leadership in past experience
  • Proficient in English and able to speak in Mandarin/other dialects to communicate with the clients and stakeholders.
