Job Description
- Provide IP counsel within a specific technical subfield of the ANS portfolio.
- Develop risk mitigation options (e.g., licensing, invalidation, design‑around) and advise BA Management accordingly.
- Identify IP opportunities within the patent portfolio (e.g., licensing, selling, enforcement), including litigation.
- Analyze third‑party patent claims to assess potential risks; develop and implement defense strategies against such claims.
- Defend IP rights in the BA ANS field, aligned with the patent strategy for the respective subfield.
- Manage the IP portfolio by participating in regular patent committee meetings with ANS R&D Strategy and IP ANS experts.
- Leverage experience in telecommunications and standardization activities to assess standard‑relevant IP risks, and support ANS R&D/Strategy in standard‑driven innovation.
- Handle invention disclosures and draft patent applications; prepare replies to office actions within a specific technical subfield of the ANS (Architecture & Network Solutions) portfolio. Support IP attorneys with filing, and subsequent filings.
- Support the IP BA ANS Head located in Nuremberg, and ANS R&D/Strategy, in defining national and international patent filing strategies, including cost‑benefit and efficiency analysis.
- Implement IP processes and support BA ANS to ensure technical IP compliance within the designated subfield of the portfolio.
- Assist the IP BA ANS Head and the Legal team with IP‑related litigation in the ANS area.
- Conduct IP training sessions for BA ANS R&D/Strategy teams.
- Organize and lead invention workshops and support participating inventors.
- Calculate inventor remuneration regularly and handle related requests in the designated subfields.
- Collect sales and usage data required for inventor remuneration in the relevant areas.
- Guide inventors and help resolve remuneration‑related conflicts, supporting the IP BA ANS Head in managing disputes.
- Prepare IP landscape analyses for BA ANS.
Qualifications
- A university degree in engineering or natural sciences (e.g., Physics, Chemistry), with at least a Master's, Diploma, or an equivalent academic qualification.
- Similar experience compared to a European Patent Attorney.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of intellectual property (IP), preferably with at least 5 years in an industrial or corporate setting.
- Proven experience in semiconductor technologies, including a solid understanding of chip architectures, manufacturing processes, material technologies, and production-related quality requirements, as well as contributions to technical specifications
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, is essential.
